Pedro Leon received Hannover offer

Getafe winger Pedro Leon received an offer from Hannover last July, contradicting club President Angel Torres’ claims.

The former Real Madrid player has been in limbo after Getafe were unable to register him in their squad for this season, as his inclusion would have breached the club’s €17m wage cap imposed by the League.

However, Torres has maintained that Getafe did not receive any offers over the summer for their highest-paid player, although this appears to be disproved by a letter released by Pedro Leon and published in Marca, showing an offer was made by Hannover director of football Dirk Dufner.

“Dear Mr.Torres, Herewith I express our interest for the summer transfer of the player Pedro Leon Sanchez Gil to our club,” it read in English.

“Hannover 96 would like to buy the player for an amount of €1m. In case Hannover 96 permanently transfers the player to a third club with effect between July 23, 2014 and June 30, 2017, FC Getafe receives 25 per cent of the net transfer amount (after deductions) that exceeds €1m.

“Please think about our proposals. We look forward to hearing from you soon. In case of questions, please feel free to call Mr. Dufner on the mobile…….”

Leon has entrusted the AFE, the Spanish footballers’ union, to handle his situation, while a a possible way out could be a loan move to Sevilla with an option to buy him on a permanent basis next summer.
