Official: Almeria sack JIM

Almeria have announced that they have parted company with Coach Juan Ignacio Martinez after just 14 League games.

The former Levante and Valladolid boss was unveiled as Francisco Rodriguez’s successor in early December but won just four La Liga matches during his reign, with no victories in the last seven.

JIM: No room for error

Juan Ignacio Martinez has warned Almeria that there is no longer any room for error ahead of their match against Elche in La Liga on Saturday.

The Andalucians have been dragged back into the relegation dogfight following their failure to win any of their last three games, while a proposed points deduction by FIFA has threatened to pile further misery on the side, but a victory this weekend could move them clear of the bottom three.

“There’s no room for error,” the Coach began at a Press conference.

JIM: Depor vital for Almeria

Juan Ignacio Martinez believes Almeria’s visit of Deportivo La Coruna in La Liga on Saturday will prove ‘vital’ in their fight against relegation.

The Andalucians return to League duties this weekend without a win in their last two matches, a run of results which have seen the side drop to 17th in the table – just a point clear of Levante, who occupy the last relegation place.

“It’s a great match, in which the three points will be vital for our fight [against relegation],” the Coach mused at a Press conference.

JIM: I'm responsible for relegation

Juan Ignacio Martinez has apologised to the Real Valladolid fans after his side were relegated to the Segunda.

The Pucela lost 1-0 to Granada on Sunday, meaning that they finished the season in 19th place with 36 points.

“I am responsible for this,” the Coach told a Press conference. “I was convinced we were going to stay in the League.

“But it just wasn’t to be. I have to accept the criticism that will come my way. But we’ll go down with our heads held high.

JIM: No excuses for defeat

Juan Ignacio Martinez thought his Real Valladolid players didn’t ‘rise to the occasion’ against Celta Vigo.

The Pucela lost 4-1 to the Celestes on Monday evening, to keep them mired in the relegation zone.

“We have to be honest and admit that we didn’t rise to the occasion,” he told a Press conference.

“I haven’t got any excuses for what happened here. This is not the way we want to play.

“We’ve had talks in the dressing room, but that’s all I’ll say.

JIM: Typical relegation battle

Real Valladolid boss Juan Ignacio Martinez was philosophical about his side’s point against Osasuna on Friday.

The Pucela drew 0-0 with the Rojillos yesterday evening, leaving both clubs perilously close to the drop zone, in 17th and 16, respectively.

“This game was typical of two sides at this stage of the season,” he told a Press conference.

“But for a team playing for survival, it’s always important to keep adding points, no matter how they come.

JIM: Too many errors

Juan Ignacio Martinez conceded his Real Valladolid team made too many errors in their defeat to Sevilla.

The Pucela went down 4-1 to the Rojillos on Sunday to stay in the relegation places.

But the Coach admitted his men were the architects of their own downfall.

“We know that we have not performed,” he told a Press conference. “We have fallen short of our normal leve.

“We played a brilliant game against Barcelona, but we can’t just live off of that win – we made too many errors here.

JIM: We could have done more

Juan Ignacio Martinez was torn after Real Valladolid’s 1-1 draw with Malaga on Saturday.

Daniel Larsson cancelled out Roque Santa Cruz’s earlier strike, as the Pucela and the Costa del Sol outfit shared the points.

“We’ve got a point but I think we could have done more in the second half,” he told a Press conference.

“Three points today could have given us some breathing space – we needed them.

“But coming away from here with a point will make us stronger.

'We did everything for three points'

Juan Ignacio Martinez insisted his Real Valladolid side did all they could to beat Levante on Friday evening.

The Pucela could only claim a 1-1 draw with the Granotes yesterday, but the Coach was pleased with the effort his lads put in.

“We wanted to get three points here,” he told a Press conference. “But we knew it was going to be difficult because Levante are a good team.

“They made it tough for us, especially after they went ahead.

JIM pleased with Valladolid 'spirit'

Juan Ignacio Martinez praised his Real Valladolid side’s ‘spirit’ after they came from behind to draw with Elche.

The Pucela had been 2-0 down, but a Hector Osorio double gave them a share of the points on Sunday.

“Going 2-0 down was a blow,” he told a Press conference. “But I have to congratulate the boys for showing such spirit.

“We fought hard, so I’m pleased with my lads for coming away with a point – even though, we went into the game wanting the win.
