Krasnodar eye Real Betis winger Cristian Tello

Russian club FC Krasnodar are prepared to pay the €12m release clause of Real Betis winger Cristian Tello, say Estadio Deportivo.

It follows on from a report in Diario AS last month which claimed the Seville-based club were concerned the player could move away this summer.

However, there could be complications in a deal as Barcelona still own part of the player’s rights – owning 50% – and could prevent any deal, should Betis make this request.

New Verdiblancos boss Rubi is said to place a great deal of importance upon the role of the 27-year-old for the coming season, but they fear that other clubs may be monitoring his situation.

The winger joined Betis in a €4m switch from Barcelona two summers ago and has appeared in 74 first-team appearances since, netting 11 goals.

Former Betis Coach Quique Setien was criticised for not placing enough importance on Tello’s role within the squad last season, with his first-team starting opportunities limited.

Formerly of Fiorentina and Porto, the former Barcelona winger – who scored 20 goals in his stint at the Camp Nou – is said to be happy with his new role at Betis, but the club are still fearful of an economic offer from elsewhere.

The proposed 4-3-3 formation of Betis is said to have quelled the player’s concerns over his role next year.
