Real Betis have completed the signing of Villarreal wing-back Alfonso Pedraza on loan with an option to buy, the club have confirmed.
Pedraza shone last season at the Yellow Submarine with reports even linking him with a move to Real Madrid and appeared in 45 games across all competitions.
The 23-year-old spent the season before last on loan at Alaves – for whom he made 37 first-team appearances – and prior to that he spent the 2016/17 season between Segunda outfit Lugo and Leeds United.
It is claimed by Marca that Villarreal had an agreement with Eintracht Frankfurt to sell the player permanently for €15m before Betis romped up their interest.
It is claimed that the entire value for their loan and projected permanent bid would fall just shy of that amount, but the Andalusian native requested that he be allowed to join the Seville-based club.
The initial loan bid will be processed for between €0.5m-1m while Pedraza is expected to primarily provide competition with Junior Firpo for the position next season.
Pedraza is the second summer signing for Betis following a deal for Real Sociedad forward Juanmi.
