Santiago Solari: Goals will come for Real Madrid

Santiago Solari assured ‘the ball will go in eventually’ for Real Madrid after their narrow 1-0 win against Rayo Vallecano on Saturday.

Madrid have now scored just two goals in their last three games, prompting more whistles at the team, but Solari noted his side were creating chances and simply not taking them.

“I leave here satisfied,” the Coach said after the match.

“We had a great first half, moving the ball well, creating many chances. We should’ve gone into half-time with a better lead, but the ball didn’t go in.

“We had more chances in the second half, albeit not so many, but on the other hand we didn’t let them have any until near the end and Courtois did very well.

“Our opponents are also in the game. Rayo play good football, especially if you give them space.

“This is La Liga and it’s not easy to beat anyone. The games are tough because of that. You play, you have chances an if you don’t take them, you suffer.

“If we went 2-0 up, it would’ve been different. I’d worry more if we didn’t create chances. We created them and that’s the important thing.

“I really liked Asensio’s performance. He did a great job and created several openings, and I liked how he kept knocking on the door.

“We’ll try to score more goals in our next few games. Today we had more chances than we did at Huesca.

“We knew how to defend there, but against Rayo it was different. We defended with the ball and clearly dominated but just failed to show for it. The ball will go in eventually.

“As for Isco, all I want is for everyone to be well, happy and committed. We all work at the club for that.

“I try to not name the wrong squads or XI, neither do I try to make the wrong substitutions. I loved the support from our fans.

“We look to get them on side and we try to return their support with results. We’re delighted with how things are going.

“We finished first in our Champions League group, we’re in the last 16 of the Copa and we’ve cut the deficit in La Liga.”
