Real Madrid to appoint Santiago Solari until 2020

Real Madrid are set to appoint interim boss Santiago Solari as their permanent Coach on an 18-month contract, say reports in Spain.

The Argentine was appointed to temporarily replace the dismissed Julen Lopetegui at the European champions following the side’s 5-1 El Clasico defeat last month.

However, La Liga rules dictate that such an appointment is only valid for two weeks meaning that Madrid must confirm their decision over Solari by November 13.

The former midfielder has guided Los Blancos to victories over Melilla, Valladolid, Viktoria Plzen and Celta Vigo – scoring 15 goals in the process, helping boost his prospects of the role.

TV programme El Chiringuito presenter Josep Pedrerol says the deal has been signed until June 2020, which has been subsequently reported in Diario AS.

On Monday, ESPN FC said on Madrid that have submitted their documentation to formalise Solari’s appointment until the end of the campaign.
