‘No Barcelona regrets’, insists Paco Alcacer

Paco Alcacer insists he has no regrets from his two seasons at Barcelona and insists he improved as a player despite a lack of game time.

The striker started just 14 La Liga games across two seasons at the Blaugrana and lost his place in the Spanish national squad but is now excelling after joining Borussia Dortmund on a season-long loan deal.

“I don’t think I’ve lost any time at all, Barcelona helped me improve as a player and as a person,” Alcacer told a wide-ranging interview with Marca.

“I would have liked to have played more of course but that is the decision of your Coach, that is outside of your control and you adapt to that.

“What you can control is what you do in training, improving each session and being prepared for what lies ahead, making better decisions.

“This form at the moment is because I now have opportunities, it is a good run, it is the opposite of what happened at Barca but that is football – these experiences won’t make me different.

“I have not thought too much about the change, it does seem like a lot but at the moment I am scoring a lot because of the players behind me and the work they do.

“Lionel Messi may capture the headlines at Barca but he improves those around him, most of the goals I scored for the club were from his passes.

“He made me a better player.”
