Valencia rule out Rodrigo exit

Valencia will not sell Spain striker and reported Real Madrid transfer target Rodrigo Moreno below his €120m release clause, says club president Anil Murthy.

The Spain international has been strongly linked with a move away from the Mestalla this summer due to being in high-demand, with Madrid among the clubs linked.

The 27-year-old netted 16 goals in 31 La Liga starts at the Mestalla last season and featured for his nation at this summer’s World Cup.

“Everyone is aware that (Real Madrid Coach Julen) Lopetegui knows Rodrigo but what happens at Madrid, we do not know,” Murthy told Tribuna Deportivo, as cited by ESPN FC.

“What I do know is three things: Rodrigo is a very important player that has a very high value, he wants to play here with us and he has a €120m release clause.

“We didn't place the €120m clause without analysing the market, things change every day and we have to wait and see.”

The former Benfica striker, who started his career at the Bernabeu and had a spell at Bolton Wanderers, was the second highest Spanish scorer in La Liga last season, behind Celta Vigo’s Iago Aspas.
