James Rodriguez reportedly wants to return to Real Madrid this summer from Bayern Munich despite being just halfway through his two-year loan spell.
The Colombian playmaker joined the German champions last summer in a two-year loan agreement worth €10m, with Bayern also thought to have a reduced option to buy at the end of that spell.
A report in Marca now states the former Porto and Monaco star wants to return to the Bernabeu in a decision thought to be fuelled by the departure of Zinedine Zidane.
The 27-year-old completed a successful first season in Bavaria, netting eight times in 40 appearances including a goal against Los Blancos in the Champions League semi-final.
“Return to Madrid? I don’t know, nobody knows what will happen in the future but currently I am with Bayern,” James told BeIn Sports in April, as cited by Diario AS.
“I’m in a good phase of form at the minute and I am good here, I am happy.”
