Sevilla miss out on Diop to West Ham

Sevilla look set to miss out on Toulouse defender Issa Diop who instead looks set to join West Ham on a five-year deal, say reports.

El Desmarque report the Andalusian club’s tabled offer of €15m was insufficient to land the France Under-21 international, who will instead join the London club in a €25m switch.

The 21-year-old has made 85 first-team appearances for the French club and has risen through each level of youth international football for his nation, where he is highly regarded.

Various reports in French and British media state a move to the Hammers is likely with Everton having also held an interest in the defender.

Diop, whose grandfather Labysse Diop, was the first Senegalese footballer in Ligue 1, is a towering defender.
