Bacca seeks Villarreal switch

Carlos Bacca has made Milan aware that he would like to join Villarreal next season after his loan spell there this year.

The Colombian told a Press conference that his agent is already negotiating with the Castellon club, who have a purchase option of €16m for the striker, and he is keen to make the deal permanent.

“Villarreal are talking to my representative and Milan, who are dealing with these issues, and I’m focused until the end of this season and working with confidence. I hope it can be sorted out one way or the other,” he said.

“I’ve already said I want to stay here because I feel comfortable at Villarreal and the last year in Milan was not a good one for me, because I did not feel important with the Coach we had, so I made the decision to come here.”

Bacca had some particularly harsh words for the way he and the other forwards were treated at the Serie A giants, having joined them from Sevilla in July 2015 after activating his buyout clause for a reported €30m.

“At Milan you never knew when you were playing as they changed the strikers almost every week, and that doesn’t help the player.

“You don’t know who the main striker at Milan is, but at Villarreal I had confidence right from the beginning and that’s why towards the end of the season I felt very good.

“For me to perform it’s necessary to have a clear head, to see that your work is valued, and I believe a forward needs confidence and continuity.

“In Milan you don’t have that confidence, but if I didn’t score here then I was still playing with confidence, and the boss knew I was working well,” maintained Bacca.
