Athletic Bilbao will try to bring Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera back to the club this summer, say reports in the Spanish press.
El Mundo Deportivo, citing a report in El Correo, report the Basque giants will approach the Red Devils with an ‘attractive proposal’ and make the 28-year-old one of their highest earners.
The Bilbao-native is reportedly part of a summer project by the club to rejuvenate the squad ahead of next season, with a managerial change also in the offing.
Coach Jose Angel Ziganda’s future is under great scrutiny with his side languishing in 14th place in La Liga, with Eduardo Berizzo widely tipped to take the helm at San Mames.
Herrera – who is out of contract next year - spent three seasons at Athletic after signing from Real Zaragoza before a 2014 move to United for a reported €30m.
