Diego Simeone insists he is not prioritising either La Liga nor the Europa League over the other and is focused on his side’s improvement.
Speaking ahead of the Europa League last 16 match with Lokomotiv Moscow, the Argentine reinstated he is treating every match equally, with his side eight points behind Barcelona in La Liga.
“Today, all our focus is on the Europa League and then after the match, it will switch back to La Liga and Celta Vigo for Sunday,” Simeone told his pre-match press conference, as cited by Marca.
“It is understandable that media try to put an angle on these kind of matches, making one team favourites or giving that competition a priority, but neither are true.
“All we care about is playing well in the game and this is not our priority, all trophies and matches are considered equal for me and my staff.
“We are on the right path of improvement, this season I am proud of my players and looking back and analysing the games makes me even prouder.”
