Espanyol Coach Quique Sanchez Flores is happy with his side’s Copa del Rey showing against Barcelona despite elimination.
The Blaugrana advanced to the last four of the competition with a 2-1 aggregate victory having lost the first leg, but the Espanyol tactician was content with his side’s showing.
“For any side to advance in a two-legged tie with a team like Barcelona is hugely difficult,” Sanchez Flores told reporters, as cited by reporters.
“We can be very happy with how the tie went in general as we managed to restrict them to just two goals in two games and we have lost by only one goal, so it was very tight.
“We wanted to ensure we were still in the game in the second half but we are maybe a little disappointed we did not create more opportunities.
“They are a dangerous team so you can never commit a lot of men forward but overall our performance and Copa run was pleasing.”
