Madrid’s De Gea green light?

David De Gea’s representative Jorge Mendes has reportedly told Real Madrid that Manchester United are open to negotiating his sale this summer.

Spanish radio station Onda Cero reports that Jose Mourinho is ready to part ways with his first choice goalkeeper, two years after his much-rumoured move to the Bernabeu fell through at the eleventh hour due to a faxing error.

The Spanish international penned a new contract at Old Trafford until June 2019 days after the transfer window closed, with the Costa Rican Keylor Navas – who would have been a makeweight in the deal – re-establishing himself as the first choice for Los Blancos.

Reports in Spain now claim Real Madrid are ready to replace Navas – who has suffered a dip in form this campaign – this summer by making a new approach to make de Gea their number one ahead of the 2017-2018 campaign.

However, the reports also suggest the wages could be a stumbling block for the deal – the 26-year-old currently earns €12m with United, but would reportedly need a wage cut to move to the Spanish capital.
