Zidane: Refreshed, not rusty

Zinedine Zidane believes Real Madrid will return refreshed, not rusty, from their two-week break when they travel to Osasuna in La Liga on Saturday.

Last weekend’s postponement at Celta Vigo due to bad weather and stadium damage means Madrid have not played a competitive game for a fortnight, but Zidane insists his players “have arrived well” in Pamplona.

“We always want to play, so of course 15 days without playing is a lot, but we want to play,” the Coach said at a Press conference.

“A decision was made, which we respected, and now we’re thinking about the here and now.

“Players not looking at the table? Yes, because we still don’t know what’s going to happen, we’re only thinking about what we already have.

“We don’t know the date for Celta, we’re only thinking about what’s facing us this Saturday, without thinking about the points we may or may not pick up after playing our games in hand.

“Osasuna? We’ve arrived for the game well because we’ve had time to work and that means we’ve arrived well.

“El Sadar is a very complicated place to play. It’s top against bottom and I don’t like it at all. They’re a team that play well and it’s always very difficult at their place. We know what awaits us.

“My memories of Pamplona? I wasn’t comfortable there. I can confirm that they were uncomfortable visits.

“They’ve always made things difficult for us and that won’t change.

“Madrid fans not wanting the Copa final at the Bernabeu? If you ask Barcelona fans vice versa, the answer would be the same.

“Not to mention, there’s nonsense like always. Look at what the President said. If he says there are works then there are works.”
