Athletic Bilbao will reportedly activate the €40m release clause of Real Sociedad starlet Mikel Oyarzabal in a deal that could shake up the Basque Country.
According to El Diario Vasco, Oyarzabal must decide on where his future lies “in the next few hours”, although the 19-year-old is expected to stay with La Real for the coming season.
His decision to stay would come as a huge reassurance to the Basques, who are said to be worried that the young attacker’s release clause poses no obstacle to their arch-rivals.
Oyarzabal broke into La Real’s first team last season and scored six goals in 22 La Liga appearances as his promise was rewarded with a call-up to Spain’s pre-Euro 2016 camp and a run-out against Bosnia-Herzegovina.
