Barca transfer ban appeal rejected

FIFA have rejected Barcelona’s appeal against the transfer embargo handed down for the signing of underage players.

A statement from the world governing body confirms La Blaugrana will be unable to sign players from January 2015, the ban also covering the summer transfer window of the same year.

Barca have also been fined 450,000 Swiss Francs [€371,000] and given 90 days to regularise the situation of all players in question.

The RFEF have also been fined 900,000 Swiss Francs [€743,000] for their role in the situation and have 12 months to regularise the registrations of all players in question.

Barca were this summer allowed to sign players pending the outcome of their appeal and have brought in Claudio Bravo, Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, Jeremy Mathieu, Thomas Vermaelen, Ivan Rakitic and Luis Suarez.
