Madrid complete Diego Lopez deal

Real Madrid have completed the signing of Sevilla goalkeeper Diego Lopez for a fee €4m.

The 31-year-old re-joins the Santiago Bernabeu side, having left the club for Villarreal in 2007, on a four-and-a-half year deal.

“It's a dream for me to be back,” Diego Lopez told reporters. “I am very happy to return to the place that I consider my home.

“To be back at Madrid is the greatest thing that could have happened in my career. I can't wait to start this great challenge.”

Current goalkeeper Iker Casillas has had to have an operation on his thumb, after an incident during the club's Copa del Rey quarter-final with Valencia on Wednesday, and will be out for three months.

Los Blancos' captain will therefore miss both Champions League last 16 ties against Manchester United and the Copa semi-final with Barcelona.
