Michel upset with result, not team

Sevilla boss Michel said he was disappointed with the 0-0 draw at home to Levante but not with his team’s performance.

The Andalusians missed a whole host of chances to have wrapped up the points, something Michel recognised at the post-match Press conference.

“I’m displeased with the result, not the team, although we lacked the knowledge to break them down.

“In the second half we submitted them to intense pressure but when a game ends goalless then it means you have not been successful in front of goal.

“Nonetheless, when my players play like they did today then you can’t be unhappy with them.”

Michel was asked if Sevilla had a plan B that involved the team not relying solely on winger Jesus Navas.

“If we had scored then we wouldn’t be talking of a plan B,” he argued. “If you take Jesus Navas out of the game then that would be to do without 15 crosses every match.”

Michel also referred to the recent atmosphere at the Sanchez Pizjuan, where a section of the club’s more radical fans have been in conflict with President Jose Maria del Nido.

“It has not been comfortable playing there lately but I think all Sevilla fans should be working towards one goal and put the club above everything else.

“We need the supporters behind us for the whole 90 minutes and I imagine the President and directors will be looking to find a solution.”
