Granada not moving ground

Granada and their local city council have struck an agreement that will see the Primera Division side remain at Los Carmenes this season.

The Andalucians accused the city of imposing unrealistic terms on the club as negotiations between the parties over the use of the ground stalled.

Talks had been ongoing since the summer on the club’s continued use of the ground that is owned by the council authorities, but had gotten to a stage this weekend where Granada confirmed their intention to ground-share with one of Sevilla, Malaga and Real Jaen.

Instead, the club have confirmed via their official Twitter account that they have managed to reach an agreement to remain at Los Carmenes.

Granada are understood to have agreed to the city’s original request of €150,000 to cover the costs of electricity, water, security and cleaning at the stadium for the next 12 months.

In exchange, the club are reported to be set to receive a greater percentage of revenue generated from games.

The city have also announced that by the time of Granada’s next game at Los Carmenes, the ground will have a new video screen erected, as a cost of €277,000. Any revenue generated from advertising on this screen will also be shared between the council and the club.

An announcement on the agreement will be made at a joint Press conference on Thursday.
