Barca scrape past Osasuna

Two goals from Lionel Messi were enough for Barcelona to turn potential defeat into confirmed victory at Osasuna, but not without controversy.

The home side proved tricky opponents through the game and took the lead in the first half thanks to a hooked effort from Joseba Llorente.

Barca struggled to find a way through and when they did midway through the second half, it was to the consternation of Los Rojillos.

Francisco Punal appeared to be impeded by the referee with Osasuna attacking and as possession fell to Barca, they went down the other end to equalise through Messi.

Punal was sent off for his protests at the goal, which had also seen a couple of close offside calls go in the away side’s favour.

The 10 men then fell behind soon after to Messi’s side-footed second, from a low cross from Jordi Alba.

Tito Vilanova was sent from his technical area during the second half, when the score was still 1-0 to Osasuna.
