“You have to show respect” – Barcelona manager Hansi Flick aims dig at Real Madrid

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has spoken on a variety of topics during his pre-match press conference for Sunday’s fixture against Getafe, as the Catalans aim to keep pace with Real Madrid at the top of the La Liga standings.

As per Diario AS, Flick was asked about Dani Olmo’s lack of prominence at the start of the season, with the midfielder having only started once in five matches thus far.

“We have 25 players and we have to make decisions. We’ve just started the season and every player is important, we need everyone. I’m happy with this situation. Some are not entirely happy, but it is about the team. They know what this is about.”

Flick also spoke on Marcus Rashford, following his match-winning performance in Barcelona’s Champions League victory at Newcastle United earlier in the week.

“I’ve said it before. He gained confidence with the two goals. Our way of playing is always to have a lot of intensity. When you arrive at a club like this you have to adapt, but he is in a great moment. I firmly believe in his quality, but one has to work hard always. You have to improve every day and adapt to every situation.”

Flick, who will be heading to Paris in two days’ time for the Ballon d’Or ceremony, was asked about Lamine Yamal’s chances of winning the award. He also appeared to aim a dig at Real Madrid with his comments, with their El Clasico rivals set to snub the event for the second year in a row.

“I don’t know. Someday we will see it, he will win it one day. But to be there is to maintain respect. You have to go there, show respect to the winners and that is vitally important. You have to show respect to the winners. Whoever wins it deserves it.”

  1. If they are doing selfishness who will atend the ceremony? They have to change by doing justis and give it to those who deserve for it. Respect to injustis is good?

    1. You are full of yourself and no better than the nagging, irresponsible, disgusting and disrespectful Madrid of a cry baby club who find fault with anything that goes against them. So nasty

    2. They are giving it to whom they like not whom that deserved it.. the event and way of choosing the winter is Rasically abused ‼️

  2. What do you expect from the coach of a club involved in Negereria-gate.A people whose stock is cheating.

    1. Now that madrid has call attention for justice, this time around you will see the deserving player winning it always for a longer period.

  3. Respect? Al-Khaleifi and Ceferin are guilty of vote rigging and corruption. Each had their own axe to grind with Real Madrid that year… Al-Khaleifi with his MBappe saga and Ceferin with the Super League affair. Vini Jnr and RM just simply paid the price. Rodri was neither the best player in City nor the EPL. If Spain was the argument then Carvajal was also key, won the CL and even scored a goal in the CL final. Rigged. Seriously, Rodri? Even among midfielders… better than a league and CL winning Toni Kroos in that season? 6 time CL and WCup winning Kroos? Seriously, Rodri?

Sometimes it is the hour to take a stand against injustice.

  4. Sore losers from real always complaining if things don’t go their way. Mbapenalty is always scoring thanks to rubbish calls . You guys didn’t complain when modric won. The winners deserves it and respect people for the job they did. Things aren’t always d fair in life.

    1. Thanks to you very much. They don’t complain about the bad calls that favour them but threw tantrum last season about referee calls.

  5. I’d take this “report” with a grain of salt. Hansi Flick is not the type to “aim digs” at other clubs. I’m sure he respects Real Madrid’s right to make its own decisions. We don’t know the question he was responding to, but I’m pretty sure he was speaking about his own personal values, and that this (as in many other “articles” on this site) is probably taken out of context.

  6. I can’t wait for the day a madrid player wins the Ballon dor and there is no one at the ceremony to congratulate the player. Just him, his teammates and the presenter. That’s when they will know what respect is.

  7. Oh please RM should shut up. Vini was neither the best player at RM or La liga last season and performed horribly at Copa America. Everyone knows once International competitions carry more weight in ballon d’Ors. We didn’t see Madrid say anything when CR7 won it 2013 and neither did Bayern boycott the ceremony. That’s class from Bayern not this little kid tantrums RM are throwing. They did the same thing with referees last season. They have benefited the most from injustices than anyone and never called it out. RM should stop behaving like kids please.

  8. Real Madrid refused to attend the Balon d’Or for the second year running and the whole footballing world is convulsing.🤣🤣🤣🤣
Real Madrid is class for a reason

  9. No matter what happens, RM will always be hated for our successes. What you can’t argue is our results, y’all haters run your mouth all you like, but you never pick up the challenge of beating our records and results. Like it or not, Balon d’or has lost its credibility substantially in the last 5years. So go on hating, that’s the best you can do RN, nothing more. We all know who’s been corrupt from ages past, and facing scrutiny. 💥

  10. Real Madrid is right for standing against this award with tainted credibility. Why do they catch cold with Madrid,s absence
