Barcelona may be facing more asset sales if they want to register last summer’s star signing Dani Olmo before the deadline on the 31st of December. Their court case has been rejected, after they went down a legal route to try and force La Liga’s hand.

Olmo and striker Pau Victor were registered through an emergency injury rule in the summer, but with Andreas Christensen and Ronald Araujo returning, must do so without that allowance before the end of the month. Players cannot be registered twice in one season by one club, and Olmo and Victor will not be allowed to play if they are not registered. Olmo also has a clause in his contract that allows him to be leave on a free if that is the case.

As reported by MD, their court case against La Liga has been rejected. Barcelona had appealed that the rules were denying Olmo his right to work, and had sought a suspension of Liga registration rules, but a judge in a Barcelona court has rejected their motion. Barcelona will launch a second legal motion next week on the 30th of December, asserting that the Delegate Comission of La Liga is not the body that should be governing the matter.

Local media have been reporting that Barcelona will look to sell further assets if they cannot find the legal backing they need. The Blaugrana have been putting together a 20-year package to commercialise the VIP boxes at the newly renovated Camp Nou when it is ready, with the figure estimated at between €100m-€200m.
