In the last couple of days, Barcelona have made the decision to sign a new goalkeeper immediately, rather than wait until January to cover the season-ending injury to club captain Marc-Andre Ter Stegen. It has also been decided who the replacement will be: Wojciech Szczesny.
Szczesny retired during the summer, but he will come back to football in order to sign for Barcelona. According to reports in Poland (via MD), an agreement is already sealed, and the Catalan giants have scheduled his medical for Thursday.

Once Szczesny completes his medical examination, he will sign a one-year contract, which sees him out until the end of this season. As part of the deal, Barcelona will need to pay Juventus a reported fee of €2m, as the Serie A side would be due money because the Polish goalkeeper ended his deal early because of his retirement.

Upon signing, Szczesny will compete with Inaki Pena and Aster Astralaga to be Barcelona’s number one. All being well, he should be in the squad for Saturday’s trip to Osasuna.
