La Liga President Javier Tebas has been publicly warned by the Administrative Sports Court (TAD) for breaking protocol with regard to holding general meetings for the league, but has crucially avoided a suspension.
The sentence was handed out on Friday, after a case was brought against him by Real Madrid, as per Relevo. There are no consequences beyond the public warning, but La Liga have since released a statement declaring their full disagreement with the ruling, and noted that it was not a final sentence, suggesting they could appeal. Tebas could have faced suspension as a maximum punishment, but it has not come to pass.
The case relates back to the CVC deal, with 37 of the 42 clubs originally signing up to sell a percentage of their TV rights in exchange for a €2.5b investment, shared out between the clubs. Real Madrid have previously sought a legal ruling against the deal, but this time were seeking a ruling against Tebas himself, who did not call an urgent meeting with enough time in advance, during which the clubs voted on the CVC deal.
