Real Madrid expect to finalise signing of Alphonso Davies in January

Real Madrid have been following Alphonso Davies for some time, and he is one of the great desires in the transfer market. Club officials had hoped to sign him during the summer, but it was made impossible because Bayern Munich’s asking price was deemed to be excessive.

Instead, attention has turned towards signing him as a free agent. Davies’ contract with the Bavarians is due to expire next June, and Real Madrid do not expect him to sign a new deal. As per Diario AS, their firm belief is that they have won the battle to secure his services from 2025 onwards.

For Real Madrid, the roadmap is fulfilled. They will look to enter into pre-contract negotiations in January, with the hope for a quick resolution. After that, they will need to wait until July for his arrival, but he will come without a transfer fee.

Davies will be a significant coup for Real Madrid, despite his drop in level over the past 12 months. He is expected to compete with Ferland Mendy upon arrival at the Santiago Bernabeu, as the French left-back is on course to sign a new contract – keeping him at the club beyond 2025.
