It’s a good time to be a Barcelona supporter at the moment – not only as they top of the league, but Gavi’s return from a serious knee injury is also coming in the very near future. Not only that, another key player who will be returning imminently is Frenkie de Jong.
De Jong has been out since April with a troublesome ankle injury. He was only expected to miss 4-5 weeks, but that has turned into 4-5 months. However, his time in the wilderness will soon to be coming to an end.
As per MD, de Jong is to return to Barcelona training next week. He will join up with his teammates, having had very good sensations during individual sessions in the last few days. All being well, he could even make his comeback on the pitch by the end of September.

Earlier this month, de Jong refused to go through with surgery on his ankle, thus going against the wishes of Barcelona. All parties involved will be praying that he does not suffer a relapse upon his return to action.
