Recently, Cristiano Ronaldo sat down for an interview with Rio Ferdinand, with the piece having been broadcast on YouTube. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner discussed several topics, including former club Real Madrid.
As per Diario AS, Ronaldo expressed his love for the club, while also explaining why they are so good in the Champions League.
“Real Madrid are the type of team that does not give up under pressure. People say they’re lucky in the Champions League, but it’s brains. They are prepared for these moments. The Bernabeu has that different aura. The energy is different when big teams go there. They score a goal, but the pressure gets the better of them.
“I won a lot of trophies there, I won everything. It was a pleasure to play for Real Madrid for nine seasons and win four Champions Leagues. I love Real Madrid.”
Ronaldo also spoke on Real Madrid’s chances for this season. While many foresee them being better than ever with the arrival of Kylian Mbappe, the Portuguese is not so sure.
“Now, if you say that Real Madrid is going to be better or not, we don’t know. Mbappe is there now, I think they will still be strong, but I don’t know if they will be better than last year. Only God knows. They have players and a fantastic team. I think they’re going to be one of the best in the world.”
