Atletico Madrid have had a very expensive summer. They’ve splashed out on the signings of Robin Le Normand, Alexander Sorloth, Conor Gallagher and Julian Alvarez (the latter will be confirmed in the next few days), and yet, they’ve still to address a glaring problem in Diego Simeone: the lack of left-sided centre-back.
‼️ Samu Omorodion or Marc Guiu will head out on loan from Chelsea this season depending on whether or not Chelsea signs Osimhen or another striker.

Mario Hermoso held that position, but he left at the end of his contract earlier in the summer. Feyenoord’s David Hancko has been their top target, but after weeks of talks, an agreement is still not reached.
Atleti may be unable to pay the necessary funds for Hancko, or Bayer Leverkusen’s Piero Hincapie – both of whom would be big-money deals. As such, a low-cost option could be sought, with Diario AS reporting that Getafe’s Omar Alderete is a player being considered by club bosses.
Alderete would be a specialist in at left centre-back, although he would obviously be below the level that Atletico Madrid desired at the start of the summer. It remains to be seen whether their interest transpires into an offer over the next week or two.
