Real Madrid have decided not to move for a central defender this summer, save for any ‘opportunities’ coming their way in the final weeks of August. However it looks like they will be forced to mend and make do for some time.
Currently the options at Carlo Ancelotti’s disposal are Eder Militao, Antonio Rudiger, Jesus Vallejo and Aurelien Tchouameni, neither of the latter two ideal options for Los Blancos. Part of Real Madrid‘s plans bank on David Alaba‘s return, which is hoped to be in October. Unfortunately, Sport report Alaba will likely be out until 2025, amid reports that his recovery is going slowly.
The 32-year-old has been out since early January with an anterior cruciate ligament injury, which also damaged other areas of his knee. Real Madrid had planned to have Leny Yoro to take on some of the burden at the back, but his move to Manchester United came as a surprise in the offices in the Spanish capital.
