Barcelona make first move to sign Bundesliga winger

Barcelona are not giving up hope in their pursuit of Nico Williams, although they have now started to look at alternatives. One of those is Kingsley Coman, whom Hansi Flick is very familiar with. Flick and Coman worked together, to great effect, at Bayern Munich, and they could now be re-united at Barcelona.

Florian Plettenburg reporting that contacts have already taken place between Barcelona and Coman’s representatives. Officials at the Catalan giants have been informed that Bayern would accept an loan offer for the French winger, who has no place in Vincent Kompany’s squad for the new season.

For now, Coman is not a priority, but that could change over the coming weeks. Despite now being back within their salary limit, Barcelona would need to organise player departures to ensure that they have enough space to register Coman with La Liga, in the event that a deal does take place.

Barcelona could do much worse than signing Coman on loan. It’d be a low-cost operation for a very good player, and if things don’t work out, there’d be no commitment to signing him on a permanent basis.
