Valencia and Atletico Madrid appear to have wrapped up an agreement for 21-year-old midfielder Javi Guerra, but his destination this summer remains uncertain.
Real Sociedad and Girona showed interest in Guerra, but after it looked like Conor Gallagher’s move from Chelsea to Atletico was to collapse, the Rojiblancos decided to move for Guerra.
💣🚨 MAJOR BREAKING: Atlético Madrid are continuing with the Javi Guerra operation and intend to finalize it in the next few hours.

According to Relevo, a deal has been agreed to sign Guerra for €25m plus €5m and Valencia keeping 15% of his sell. However with Gallagher at the last minute, Atletico have yet to make a call on whether to sign one or both of the midfielders. In the meantime, Valencia sent Guerra to train in the gym, while his future is resolved.
Guerra broke into the Valencia side late two seasons ago, and has shown he has the talent to be a relatively complete midfielder, playing out well, escaping pressure, and coming up with crucial goals. If Atletico do not decide to go through with the deal, currently it seems most likely that he will head to Girona, but it does appear as if his future lies away from Mestalla currently.
