Manchester City find suitor willing to meet asking price for Barcelona target

Barcelona have openly stated that they are keen to have Joao Cancelo back on loan from Manchester City next season, and the Portuguese himself has also declared a desire to remain. City are keen to cut their losses with the 30-year-old though, and make a permanent sale that will likely be beyond Barcelona’s financial capacity.

As reported on The Daily Briefing, Saudi Arabian sides Al-Ettifaq and Al-Ahli are willing to meet Manchester City’s asking price for Cancelo, situated at between €25m and €30m. Recent reports say that Cancelo has also been offered to former sides Juventus and Inter, but neither sees the move as financially viable.

City would no doubt be delighted to accept the Saudi money for Cancelo, but the full-back will have to be persuaded to head to the Middle East. Barcelona will still look to sign Cancelo on loan, and City have the added complication that his agent Jorge Mendes has a close relationship with Barcelona. The Blaugrana are unlikely to try and compete financially.
