Barcelona defender Mikayil Faye was heavily linked with an exit from the club in the last few weeks, with Porto in talks for him. That deal seemed to have been called off, but it may only be a temporary hitch.
Faye had agreed terms with Porto, and Barcelona were demanding €15m for the Senegalese defender, who cost them just €2.2m from NK Kustosija the previous summer. With Porto unable to meet their demands though, the deal appeared to have broken down. Yet The Athletic report that the deal is still expected to go through – it has merely stalled due to Porto’s cash flow issues. Once those are resolved, the idea is that Faye will make the move.

Barcelona have a large number of central defenders on their books, currently at eight, and as one of the easiest to make a profit on, it will be no surprise if Faye is sacrificed to alleviate their financial issues. While it could turn out to be a major missed opportunity, it is needs must for the Blaugrana, and Faye will not necessarily hurt their chances of immediate success.
