Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has admitted he opted against joining Real Madrid during his time at Anfield.
Gerrard played for Liverpool across an incredible 17 Premier League seasons making over 500 top flight appearances for the Merseyside giants.
Only two players, Ryan Giggs and his old Liverpool teammate Jamie Carragher have made more Premier League appearances for one club, and his legendary status is assured.

Despite never winning a Premier League title, his incredible leadership dragged Liverpool over the line in the 2005 UEFA Champions League final alongside two FA Cup trophies.
However, he was linked with moves away from his boyhood club throughout his career, most notably to rivals Chelsea.
Real Madrid also expressed an interest in him in 2008 but Gerrard insists he has no regrets on not moving to London or Madrid.
“I had offers from Real Madrid and Chelsea, but my heart was always with Liverpool. I never regretted my decision. If I could go back in time, I’d do the same”, as per an interview with MBC.
Gerrard, who is currently in charge of Saudi Pro League side Al Ettifaq, admitted he remains hopeful over convincing Lionel Messi to make the move to the Middle East in future.
What a pity reading these words of his. We don’t need such empty ego, low class, under achiever at real, with notin in his records he still opens that mouth to say crap, words that never seems like he wanted more success but satisfied with the few he has. An icon with few medals!
Legendry player and one that I admired but some things are just destined never to happen. Respect that he preferred to stay at Liverpool. We got Xabi Alonso (along with Modric) in midfield and that was enough to turn the tide of CL wins.
