Atletico Madrid are expected to finalise the signing of Robin Le Normand this week, and he will be one of two centre-backs to arrive at the Civitas Metropolitano during the summer transfer window. While the identity of the second addition is yet to be known, it’s expected to be Feyenoord’s David Hancko.
Atleti have been in talks with Feyenoord in recent weeks over a deal, and with Hancko’s involvement at Euro 2024 now over, these negotiations could now accelerate. The last known update on the discussions is that there was a significant valuation discrepancy between the two clubs.
Despite this, Atleti are still favourites for Hancko’s signature, and the player himself has now spoken on his future, as per Marca.
“Now I can focus more on (my future), because now I can put the European Championship aside. Things have been mentioned in the media, but now I will talk to my agent first. We can talk about that in the next two weeks.
“I’ve said many times that I’m very happy at Feyenoord. I love the club, the fans, the stadium and everyone in the club, but as an athlete you also have to try to experience new things and it would be nice to take on an even bigger challenge in a bigger competition.”

It remains to be seen whether Atletico Madrid can wrap up a deal for Hancko, but if so, he would be an outstanding replacement for the recently-departed Mario Hermoso. Diego Simeone will be hoping that the operation can be finalised before pre-season begins.
