In recent days, news has broke of Atletico Madrid’s strong interest in Manchester City and Argentina forward Julian Alvarez. The 24-year-old could be set for a summer departure, amid concerns over his place in Pep Guardiola’s squad, although right now, a move to the Spanish capital looks extremely tricky.
Atleti can only afford a loan deal, as they cannot get anywhere near Man City’s asking price for Alvarez. Unfortunately for Diego Simeone, Andrea Berta and co, the Premier League champions will only consider any permanent offers, as reported by Fabrizio Romano, although their primary intention is to retain his services.

Atletico Madrid already knew that this could be an extremely tough deal to pull off, but judging by this information, it will be practically impossible to get their hands on Alvarez this summer. It remains to be seen whether a permanent operation is considered by club officials, although significant sales would be needed in order to raise the funds required to get Man City to the negotiating table.
