Barcelona and Bayern Munich looked set to be locked in talks in January for Ronald Araujo, and while the pair might have plenty of crossover this summer, it may not be for the big Uruguayan.
It was reported first by Matteo Moretto that Frenkie de Jong would not necessarily rule out a move to Bayern Munich, and as per Christian Falk, he is one of their five targets for the summer transfer window that Sporting Director Max Eberl has outlined.
Barcelona President Joan Laporta has stated that they do not need to make a major sale, but if they are to bring in players, all of the reporting is that this will be the case. As has been shown in the past, the key will be whether de Jong is open to leaving Barcelona, who will either want to put him on a much cheaper contract, or sell him this summer.
FC Bayern's transfer list updated:
❇️ Xavi Simons @PSG_inside
❇️ Jonathan Tah @bayer04fussball
❇️ Frenkie de Jong @FCBarcelona
❇️ Chris Führich @VfB Stuttgart
❇️ Joao Palhinha @FulhamFC or Amadou Onana @Everton— Christian Falk (@cfbayern) June 4, 2024
One of the players that Barcelona would perhaps pursue if they got a big fee for de Jong is Everton’s Amadou Onana, who was identified as a target during the early months of the year. That deal might be difficult if Bayern are also competing for the Senegalese midfielder.
The Blaugrana may have more of a chance of loaning Xavi Simons from Paris Saint-Germain, due to the sentimental ties the Dutchman has to Barcelona. The 21-year-old playmaker has also delayed the decision on his future until after the Euros. Yet Eberl is also reportedly keen on Simons, and is a big believer in his talents, having loaned him for Leipzig last summer. If Bayern try to sign Simons, then PSG might be tempted into a sale rather than a loan.
🚨 Simons will decide his future after EURO 2024. @RikElfrink

Naturally, it is one thing to create a shortlist, and another to bring them all in. Perhaps the biggest news is that Araujo is not on it though. The 24-year-old defender has been signalled as the most likely of Barcelona’s big stars to leave, and if Bayern are not interested, then it is less competition to drive the price up for Barcelona, and one less potential source of income.
Imagine what economical wasteland you are in when your most viable target is a loan.
PAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA
Man my sides PAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA
How did that lever action and overpaying HGHPissdwarf work out in the end? Maybe they plan on fielding laPorka due to lack of resources, but he will probably just need cpr after first stride.
I know!
Put him in goal, with that massive gut, he will cover 85% of goal AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
