Preparations are being made at Barcelona for the impending arrival of Hansi Flick as the next head coach, following official confirmation of Xavi Hernandez’s sacking, which will become active at the end of the season. Flick will bring two coaches with him, but the Catalan giants want to add another member to the German’s staff.
As per Diario AS, Barcelona are exploring the possibility of hiring an assistant who can speak German and Spanish perfectly, and thus act as a direct link between Flick and the first team squad. Javi Martinez, Marc Bartra and Ivan Rakitic are all possible options, although like Thiago – who will be leaving Liverpool as a free agent – they are all still playing.
Barcelona understand that it will be extremely difficult to acquire the profile that they crave, although the search does remain ongoing. They are desperate to provide that link between Flick and the squad, and it makes sense to explore this avenue.
