Marc-Andre ter Stegen hits out at fake news regarding relationship with Xavi Hernandez

Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen has publicly denied a report regarding his conduct earlier in the season, which claimed he had expressed doubts about manager Xavi Hernandez to the club.

During the report, it was said that ter Stegen had expressed doubts about Xavi to President Joan Laporta, saying some of the squad did not appreciate Xavi’s public calling out of player’s mistakes. Allegedly this was after Barcelona’s defeat to Girona.

Ter Stegen was strong in his response, calling it an attack on his values.

“The story published by ‘Barca Reservat’ directly attacks my personal values and I will not tolerate someone using my name to create bad vibes based on false information.”

“If I ever want to say or report something, I will always be very direct with the person.”

The German goalkeeper’s character has rarely been called into question, and after a decade at the club, will continue as one of the captains of the side next season, alongside Sergi Roberto. It looks as if he will be working under former Germany manager Hansi Flick next season, with the ex-Bayern Munich coach having already agreed a deal to take over.
