Valencia wrap up signing of goalkeeper amid speculation of Giorgi Mamardashvili exit

Valencia have signed a new goalkeeper for next season, with speculation growing that Giorgi Mamardashvili could leave after two excellent seaons at Mestalla.

As per Relevo, Valencia have sealed a deal for Rayo Vallecano goalkeeper Stole Dimitrievski this summer, who leave as a free agent after six years in Vallecas. The 30-year-old will sign a two-year deal, despite lucrative offers from the Middle East.

It gives them security should Mamardashvili leave, with Newcastle United reportedly interested in the Georgian, and willing to offer €25m plus an extra €5m in bonuses. However Los Che are still holding out for €40m.

Fabrizio Romano has noted that Atletico Madrid are also looking at Mamardashvili, amid whispers that Jan Oblak could depart the club. Los Rojiblancos have denied any such thing, but Mamardashvili could be an option if the Slovenian does leave.

If those are the figures that Valencia are demanding for Mamardashvili, then Atletico would have to be considered outsiders for his signature. Not only do Newcastle have more Saudi financial muscle, but their big investment this summer is set to be a number nine, albeit a large offer for Oblak may give them more ammunition.
