Atletico Madrid are set for significant turnover this summer if reports are to be believed, and one of the key exits will be defender Mario Hermoso. The 28-year-old returned to the side midway through last season, and has been a regular since.
Hermoso was offered a deal before January, but Atletico wanted to lget him on a reduced deal, while he is set to have offers to increase his salary elsewhere. Aston Villa and Saudi Arabia have been mentioned as potential destinations, but what is certain is that talks have broken down, and he will not continue at Atletico.

Diario AS claim that it is not down to Diego Simeone though. El Cholo was in favour of extending Hermoso’s deal, and he publicly said over the weekend that he hoped that he would continue. With a salary from the pre-pandemic Atletico though, it appears that Simeone will be on the hunt for a replacement this summer.
