Matteo Moretto Transfer Column: Barcelona forward plans, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joselu Mato

Matteo Moretto gives Football España exclusive information on the latest deals dominating the papers in Spain, as revealed in Fabrizio Romano’s Daily Briefing.

What happens at Barcelona if Vitor Roque leaves?

There’s been talk of Robert Lewandowski’s future, but as he has said, and his agent Pini Zahavi has said, he’s very happy at Barcelona. Barcelona are not actively trying to get rid of him either, or at least it’s not in their plans. If a big offer comes in and seduces both of them, then that’ll be something to speak about, but unless something unexpected happens, then he will be at Barcelona next season.

Then there’s Vitor Roque – I still don’t think there’s a firm decision on his future one way or another this summer, whether to loan or sell him, but it’s clear they are looking for a solution. There’s not much more to add from what we discussed last week.

Barcelona have to shift some pieces around up front, in case Vitor Roque leaves, then we have to see what will happen with Joao Felix. If Roque leaves, then I think it’s clear they will look for another number nine, as they will be short. They will work on an alternative, but I don’t think it’s clear for them yet what they’re looking for. If a club comes in with €45m, then they will take that and go after another forward with that money. If Roque leaves on loan, then they will look for another loan to fill the position.

Trent Alexander-Arnold still on the table for Real Madrid

It was reported by my colleague Alfredo Matilla at Relevo that Real Madrid want to renew Dani Carvajal, and he has a very good relationship with the club. I can confirm that Real Madrid are very satisfied with Carvajal, and want to extend his stay.

On the pitch, they think he’s at a very good level, but off it, he’s of paramount importance to the dressing room. Next year Real Madrid will get even younger, like Endrick Felipe, and so there are multiple reasons for them to renew him.

The Trent Alexander-Arnold link continues to be on the table, because if he doesn’t renew with Liverpool, then he will be a brilliant market opportunity, so they will wait and see how that plays out. Then there’s obviously the Alphonso Davies deal on the other side of defence, a lot will depend on the demands of Bayern Munich, so Real Madrid are waiting on that too.

Joselu Mato and Endrick Felipe can coexist in Real Madrid squad

The idea is to bring in Endrick and bring back Joselu too. My understanding is that there are teams asking about Joselu, he’s a forward that is experienced, he scores goals and he’s cheap, so he could be a bargain.

But he has given absolute priority to Real Madrid, the two sides will sit down soon to work it out, and I believe that keeping Joselu is Real Madrid’s priority too.

He’s a forward with different characteristics, and Endrick too, he can play a different role. Kylian Mbappe can play anywhere, and Real Madrid will have a lot of games, so they will all have a chance to play.
