Barcelona star re-affirms importance with exceptional all-round performance against Real Sociedad

If Barcelona fans didn’t already know how important Pedri was before, they certainly do so now after his standout performance against Real Sociedad on Monday night. The 21-year-old made only his second start since returning from a hamstring injury, and he certainly left his mark at the Estadi Olimpic.

As per MD, Pedri recorded the most chances created (three) out of everyone on the pitch on Monday. He also won two tackles in his 70-minute cameo, as well as winning three of his four duels.

In terms of passing statistics, he recorded 65/68 successful passes (96%), which was the most of anyone to attempt 20+ passes. He would also manage six recoveries, with only Robin Le Normand and Ilkay Gundogan (both seven) registering more.

Pedri has been working himself back to full fitness over the last few weeks, and when he is back at 100%, it will be a scary prospect, given how good he was on Monday. There had been rumblings of a possible departure in the summer because of his recurring injury woes, but surely there is no one at Barcelona that doubts his continuity.
