Barcelona hold showdown talks with 25-year-old’s agent amid possibility of summer move

Before Barcelona can properly consider possible signings for this summer’s transfer window, they need to look at selling players on, especially as they aim to return to La Liga’s 1:1 rule by the end of June. One first team member that could be on his way is Inaki Pena, Marc-Andre Ter Stegen’s backup.

Pena has been frustrated by his lack of minutes over the last couple of seasons, and he wants assurances over his future. As per Jijantes (via Sport), his agent held talks with Barcelona sporting director Deco on Tuesday afternoon, as both parties aim to figure out a “solution” ahead of the summer.

Pena would command a decent fee if sold this summer, which would allow Barcelona to add funds into their kitty for new signings. If the 25-year-old does go, a replacement backup ‘keeper would be required, and the report states that it is likely to be Ander Astralaga, who’s been involved in the first team on several occasions this season, without playing.
