Girona are now so, so close to confirming their place in next season’s Champions League, and in the process, officially ensuring that Real Madrid are La Liga champions. Michel Sanchez’s side are now 4-2 up against Barcelona at Montilivi.
They trailed 2-1 up at half time, after goals from Andreas Christensen and Robert Lewandowski cancelled out Artem Dovbyk’s 20th of the season. This comeback has been inspired by substitute Christian Portu, who scored one and assisted another for the 3-2 turnaround, and he has now added his second and Girona’s fourth in emphatic fashion.
It’s a stunning volley from the winger, as he fires in from just outside the penalty area, leaving Marc-Andre Ter Stegen in the Barcelona goal with no chance.

🎥 That’s one of the goals of the season from Portu. Otherworldly. Van Persie-esque from the edge of the box. Brutal. ⚡️pic.twitter.com/YcNw0ydYQW

What an incredible strike from Portu, who has been incredible since coming on just after the hour mark. Girona now have 10+ minutes to hold on for another famous victory, which will confirm their Champions League dreams. Barcelona are scrambling, and they are about to drop to third in the table.
