Real Madrid star Eder Militao takes another significant step in recovery from ACL injury

For Real Madrid, this week has been overshadowed by the knee injury suffered by Thibaut Courtois during training on Tuesday. The Belgian goalkeeper suffered a torn internal meniscus, which he has undergone surgery for, and he will now miss the remainder of this season, having failed to play at all until this point.

Courtois tore his ACL back in August, and so did Eder Militao, who did so just a few days after his teammate. The Brazilian defender also hasn’t played since then, but he is close to making his comeback.

As reported by Relevo, Militao took part in a bounce game between the Real Madrid first team and Castilla on Wednesday. He left a good impression, having suffered no reaction to his previous injury – although he was short of sharpness, which is to be expected.

The likelihood is that Militao will return to the matchday squad after the international break, although he’s unlikely to be starting for Real Madrid right away, especially as the club looks to take extra precautions following Courtois’ injury.
