“I’m not afraid of Mbappe” says Robert Lewandowski as he welcomes new challenge

La Liga’s star signings are less common than they used to be, but they still get the big names when it comes down to it.

Robert Lewandowski was perhaps the last player ranked at the very top in his position to make the move to Spain, but the next one is going to top even that – Kylian Mbappe is just months away from a long awaited move to Real Madrid.

Barcelona’s Lewandowski will soon have the chance to come up against him in Clasico games, but he won’t be letting his “top striker” crown go easily.

In an interview on Polish TV which was translated by Marca, the striker insisted he couldn’t wait for the challenge:

“To play against him in La Liga would be great. If the transfer happens, I won’t be afraid, I’d see it as a good thing.

Top competitor Lewandowski is deep into his 30s now, but considering the incredible shape he’s in, he could yet play at the top for some time, and his matchups against Mbappe will be box office. The Pole may eventually have to hand over the crown, but it won’t be without a fight.
