Liverpool receive major boost regarding release clause of potential summer target

Liverpool have a degree of uncertainty hanging over them this summer, with Jurgen Klopp set to depart, and little certainty over the future of Mohamed Salah too. However one of the names they have been linked to who could be a potential option to play from the right is more reachable than might have been feared.

Real Sociedad forward Takefusa Kubo has been one of the most exciting talents in Spain this season, leading the line for a goal-shy side. The Japanese was linked with a move to Saudi Arabia and Liverpool in January, due to interest on their part, but recently signed a new deal until 2029, illustrating the fact that he is content in Donostia-San Sebastian, as he has voiced on many occasions.

However Relevo do report that his release clause has remained at €60m. Were the Reds to pursue Kubo, he would still be at a reasonable fee, although Real Madrid are set to receive 50% of whatever the 22-year-old ends up leaving for.

This does not mean to say it is a given he will leave, Kubo has been very careful to state that La Real have been excellent for his career, and is a place he is enjoying his football after a number of years bouncing around La Liga on loan. All the same, it would have been no surprise if his release clause had been doubled, which would have stretched Liverpool’s budget.
